Formulating for the GLP-1 era

GLP-1 medications have created a fast-growing category almost overnight: companion nutrition. As more consumers use appetite-suppressing treatments, brands and ingredient suppliers are racing to address the nutrient gaps that come with sharply reduced food intake — particularly protein, electrolytes and B12.

The signals are everywhere. HTBA unveiled a dedicated GLP-1 companion ingredient, Leanara, at Vitafoods Europe 2026, combining bioflavonoids with bioavailable B12 to support lean muscle and energy. Established brands including Thorne and NatureMade have already released dedicated "GLP-1 support" stacks built around electrolytes, amino acids and gut and bone support. Industry commentary is consistent on where the formulation focus needs to be: protein and leucine-rich amino acids to help preserve muscle during rapid weight loss, B12 and magnesium to cover common shortfalls, and electrolytes to support hydration as intake drops.

Already in the Wedgetail Pipeline

This isn't a category we'd be starting from scratch on. Several formulations already in our Wedgetail Pipeline™ sit squarely in this space — Electrolytes + B6 + B12 + C (Effervescent Tablets), L-Carnitine + Magnesium + B12 (Orally Disintegrating Granules), Intensive BCAA (Soluble Granules), and our Vitamin B12 Energy and Metabolic Complexes in Concordix® format. Between the format options alone — effervescent, ODT, chewable, soluble powder — there's room to match whatever positioning a brand wants, from a clinical, pharmacy-style stack to a more everyday wellness range.

If you're considering a companion nutrition range, or want to see how one of these existing formulations could be adapted for your brand, we're happy to talk through it.
